If you are thinking of starting a business, or have just started one, this workshop is a perfect fit. Topics covered will include the fundamentals of getting started, business operation basics, business plans, and how to use and understand financial reports.
Starting a brand-new business can be one of the scariest and most exhilarating moments in a new entrepreneur’s life. The hope and optimism, the visions of success, and the fear of failure are all competing for your emotions. As you begin your journey to business ownership, you may find yourself vacillating between confidence and uncertainty, but don’t worry - we’ve got a plan!
In this workshop, SCORE volunteers will detail the best path to a successful startup. They will identify some crucial first steps, provide plenty of tips, strategies, best practices, and reliable resources that you can use to help you along your journey of launching your small business. You need to get from idea to action - we can help you understand the rules. Business success takes time and determination - we will provide you with a basic pathway and discuss how to proceed.
This workshop will be held IN-PERSON AND ON ZOOM. Registration deadline is midnight the day before all events.
Ron Woodhill was the CEO of a wholesale distribution company acting as a purveyor to the culinary trade. Skilled at finding great employees, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and managing employees. Other skills are general sales, customer service for raving customers, and getting customer referrals and testimonials.
Bill Pope retired at the end of 2006 after almost 36 years with John Burnham Insurance Services, one of the top 100 independent insurance brokers (out of some 40,000) in the country and a top-five insurance broker in San Diego. As Executive Vice President/Principal, Bill directed the insurance and risk management service programs for major corporate clients. Bill holds the professional designations Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Risk Manager and is an expert in program and coverage design for corporate buyers. Upon retirement from Burnham, Bill became an independent insurance consultant. Throughout his career, Bill has been active in the communities where he has worked. He is a past member of the Newport Harbor Art Museum and Industrial League of Orange County, as well as past member and president of the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation. Bill is also past chairman of the local division of the March of Dimes, where he had been a board member for over 20 years. In his many years as a SCORE mentor, he also served four years on the board of SCORE San Diego, first as Secretary, then as Treasurer. Bill also serves on the Board of Trustees of Library Foundation SD, where he is on the Executive Committee and chairs the Finance Committee.
